Wordpress and links as well as nofollow dofollow noindex and other things to check when blogging

I’m running WP 2.9.1 whilst writing this.

I don’t like a software to dictate what I’m doing – its the other way round.

So on my base installs I install two nofollow plugins as standard – at present this is nofollow free & ultimate noindex nofollow tool.

I also install tinyMCE advanced and reduce the buttons, only the ones I really use stay and are spread evenly avoiding the editor from trying to take all the space.

These seem to work well together and give me the required flexibility of deciding which pages (login…) and archives etc I wish to tag or not to tag.
I’m also prepared to give link (juice) for good comments, why not. Thus comment setting is normally first time in queue upon one moderated comment OK if no more than 1 link.

Now when I write text and plug in links, even to my own site, each time I decide how this link is to be opened (_blank or no _blank) and I give it a decent titel.

Now on the advanced tab you’ll find site / page relation and within this nofollow. So the old plugin that added this to tinyMCE is no longer required. One plug less better performance.

To round this off I use Broken Links Checker – another nice plugin that scans the DB and allows all sorts of url manipulation.

This together with good old LinkSleuth lets me control the linkage.

Not to forget by plugging in RL this takes care of basic link needs whilst all I need to do is concentrate on the extras like LINKS (the former blogroll)

Expat

See you in rural Galicia

PS.All mentioned plugins are avail via wordpress
PPS If you don’t know Link Sleuth – Google it
